Poking The Eyes or Face
A quick move if an attacker is trying to grab you is to poke their eyes or face with your fingers or with a self defense weapon such as a tactical pen, strikelight baton tool or you could shine a flashlight with a strobe light effect into their eyes. This can distract the attacker and give you time to escape and get help. If you can not get to the attacker’s eyes or face, try to gouge any place on the body that will allow you time to get away. It is important to remember that whenever possible, escape and get help.
Elbow Strike
The next quick move that can be helpful is the elbow strike to the head, neck or any part of the body. This move is especially effective if the attacker is trying to attack you from behind. If an attacker tries to bear hug you from behind, use your elbow to strike toward the head, neck or any part of the body, while also kicking the attacker in the knee or shins or groin if possible. This will allow you space to get free from the attack and run for help. The elbow strike to the head and neck is a move that can be used if the attacker is trying to choke you from behind. It will allow you to gain more space in order to escape the attack. It is helpful to continuously strike you elbows upward and get as many blows to the attacker as possible and yell fire for help or pepper spray the attacker and run to safety.
Kick To The Groin and Knee
The Kick to the Groin and Knee is a quick move to sensitive areas of the body of the assailant and allows you more time to go for help. This technique is used when the assailant tries to come at you from the front and tries to grab you. When this happens, kick upward with the tip of your shoe or boot hitting the attacker in the groin, knee or shin. This move is one of the most painful strikes to the attacker and can help you to flee from the attacker quickly.

Hand Strike
The Hand Strike is a very effective move to get space between you and the attacker and can be a painful blow to the chin or the nose of the assailant. This technique is executed by quickly striking the attacker with the palm part of your hand in an upward motion sending the attacker’s head going backwards. It also gets the assailant off balance and allows you time to escape the attack or possibly execute a kick to the groin, knee or shin area of the body. If possible, try to carry a self defense type tool or weapon that is small enough for the attacker not to see it, but tough enough to strike a blow to the attacker’s body. These weapons, such as a tactical pen, a strikelight baton, a flashlight or pepper spray can be helpful, as you are executing the quick self defense moves and allow you to escape to safety without harm to you or your love ones.
